Called CRUSADE, the program addresses all aspects of care for those with cardiac problems from the time they enter Doctors Hospital until the time they leave. Its goal is to achieve the highest standard of cardiac care, strengthen the quality of care each and every patient receives, and further enhance the overall patient experience. The CRUSADE program gives us a more organized approach to caring for cardiac patients, says Kenneth Reeves, M.D., cardiologist on staff at Doctors Hospital. As the physicians, hospital staff and rehabilitation department all work together to serve our patients, the pro- gram will help solve immediate cardiac problems, . . . . . . catheters are then inserted through the tube while an electrophysiol- ogist and technicians follow the progress onscreen. The special electrode catheters conduct electrical impulses to and from the heart allowing the exam- iners to locate and diagnose the heart s electrical problem. Once located, the condition might be treated with a similar catheter during the same procedure, a pacemaker, or an implantable defib- rillator such as the one Vice President Dick Cheney recently received.
