Abstract: . . . of the lack of predisposing factors, underlying diseases, and trauma to the shoulder, the diagnosis was delayed. This report serves to remind clinicians of the important role of the certified athletic trainer (AT) in recognizing the clinical signs and symptoms associated with atraumatic thrombosis , so as to fa- cilitate timely medical referral and treatment of this uncom- mon, yet potentially fatal condition.
